Export CSV quirks
When I export any data to Excel the time is reported in a text format, like this: 89m 46s, since this does not correspond to any time format, I can't really use Excel for adding totals or any other functions. Same thing with start and end times: 4:15pm - 4:46pm is not recognized by Excel as a time format. This makes it almost impossible to use the info that is exported from Last5
This is related to another problem: If Last5 would Total the columns in most of the report formats, I wouldn't need to export the data in the…

Include reasons as to why it says "sign up failed" incessantly.
I would love to try this app but it won't allow me to create an account.

In the custom reports, be able to enter a custom date range instead of just a specific month.
On the website, sometimes I need a report on a project I've been working on for a few months. Currently I need to run the report separately for each month I've been working on it, and then manually add the totals up.
It'd be helpful if we could have date inputs to specify specific date ranges that could span longer than one month.

Address the issue of privacy.
Hi.
Like other users who find your software compelling, I am ready to give it a whirl. But I need to know that the client information is secure from being viewed by others. Could you address that issue? Thanks, Scott2 votes -
Please fix the hours reported in the various reports.
I know that much of the reporting is being revamped, but I am finding very difficult to get accurate hours, and I use these hours to bill my clients. I just looked at one day in three different reports and got three different numbers for tasks
1 voteNew code is in and the sample data from which the reports are drawn is being regenerated as we speak.

Raul,
An update for Mountain Lion is coming soon. For now the app will continue working, but the display is not updated and the app does not ‘pop’ to the front.

Please update the user interface
I want to ask you to make the user interface of pop-up window more personal and nice. Now there are only grey buttons and it's take a time to choose the right one. By the way I like your app!! If you make the UI nicer I'm ready to spent money for it. But not now. Good luck!!

How can we make the interface prettier but still keep it simple? One of the design goals of Last5 is to keep the design very simple.

On the Daily report view when you click the 'show' button for a task include a delete icon as well as the Edit icon that is currently there.
Having to edit and then click the delete entry adds a lot of steps. Plus after you click that delete button it takes you to a strange page that says something like 'No entries for this time period'.
It would be better to be able to do the delete and have the same page refresh with the entry gone1 voteThe daily report is being revamped to use a new reporting engine, so the existing page will be replaced shortly. I’ll add the delete button that you mention.

Enable quick selection from open tasks
I manage a support desk and often 'change' the task I am working on. I would like to select one of 30+ tasks each time I am asked to enter my current task (every 15 minutes) from a drop-down.

Billable vs Non-Billable hours
I would like to be able to see billable and non-billable hours. It's what work is all about for me. Currently, I use Projects... sort of. I only have two projects, Billable and Non-Billable. Everything I do falls into one or the other. But, I can't see it in any reports. Reporting by Project would fix that, I think.
2 votesMark,
Your timing is amazing. I just added billable/nonbillable support a few days ago. It is still hidden and somewhat experimental.
You don’t need projects to do billable/nonbillable.
To use the bill/nonbillable,
1) Edit each task and set the “Task Type” to either Billable or Nonbillable. The task type box is hidden in the edit screen for the task.
2) Visit http://last5.co/reports/custom and use the “Billable” report time. This reporting screen is VERY new and may have some rough edges. Currently it isnt linked to in the menu, so you’ll have to type the URL in manually.
Let me know how this works for you. If it can be improved, let me know that too.
Thanks -

a FAQ
I would love a FAQ with some basics.
For example what is the difference between active and inactive tasks?
Really, I'd like to know before starting adding all these tasks. ^^3 votes -
Prepend Project Name if it exists on New Entry screen in Tasks dropdown

→In the new entry page, For the dropdown items in the Task dropdown, prepend the name of the Project if there is one associated with a task and sort on this - it would make it a lot easier to quickly pick off the particular task. Thanks
→Having them grouped and indented underneath each Project would be even nicer, but the first option is probably a lot easier to implement. I find myself prepending the customer name to the tasks (I didnt do all of them, but that seems a bit redundant…

Re-order projects
I would like to be able to organize the Projects by whatever criteria I wish like alpha, date, numerical, importance, etc.

iPhone Landscape View & Sorting
Landscape View for iPhone would be great so the user can see the more of the description of the task.
The alphabetical sorting on the iPhone is great; however, it would be awesome if the user could also do a quick alphabetical sort on the website and the Mac application. A manual sort on the iPhone would be nice, but it is definitely not required.

Totals...
I really think you need to add a "Total Hours" row to the Daily Report and the Weekly (Table) report. That's the first thing I want to know, especially on the Weekly report.

Allow app to run in menubar in OSX
It is really distracting for me to have applications show up in the application switcher. It would be great to have the app running in the background with a menubar icon in OSX.
11 votesThis has been added to the latest version of Last5 which is pending review in the Mac App Store. (This version currently only works on Mountain Lion though.)

What to do with >24hr checkins?
I realize this is something of an edge case but it still looks to me like it could be handled better - if you checkin after a day away from the office all the hours are allocated to the current day - you end up with a 100 hour day!
